Origin[]
Mines were a legitimate weapon when EVE launched, but their functionality was removed very soon (2004?) due to mine fields causing extensive lag.
Status[]
The Asp mine and the bpo are much more rare than Anaconda and Python (why?).
In 2012, mines and their bpos were among a number of relic items that were accidentally deleted from the game, but were later restored.
